Custom Carpentry

Carpentry is where Vibe began. Owner JR Weber is an accomplished carpenter and woodworker, building custom storage, shelving, stairs, doors, and trim that are made to fit and made to last.

Planning the project

Problem-solving with wood.

Custom carpentry usually starts with a spot that isn’t working.

An awkward corner, a wall begging for storage, a staircase that feels dated, or trim that never quite matched. The plan begins by understanding what the space needs to do and how new work should sit against what is already there.

Done well, the finished piece looks like it was always meant to be part of the house rather than something added later.

What good work requires

Careful fitting you never notice.

Carpentry that looks effortless is the result of alignment most people never see.

  • Work measured and fit to the actual space, not to a standard that ignores the room
  • Proportion and alignment that relate to the existing architecture
  • Clean transitions between new woodwork and the original house
  • Trim, reveals, and details that line up the way the eye expects
  • Finishing that holds up to daily use

Design & finish

Where woodworking meets design.

This is where JR’s woodworking and design backgrounds meet most directly. Built-ins, shelving, stairs, doors, and trim are as much about proportion and rhythm as they are about joinery. A bookcase that is an inch off, trim that does not align with the openings around it, a stair detail that fights the rest of the room: these are the things a trained eye catches and plans around.

Done well, custom carpentry adds the kind of architectural character a house cannot fake.

Carpentry questions

A few things worth thinking through before a carpentry project.

What kind of carpentry does Vibe take on?
The work shown here includes built-in storage, shelving, closets, stairs, doors, and trim and detail work. If you have an awkward space or a spot that needs a custom-fit solution, that is the sweet spot.
Why choose custom over store-bought?
Because it is built for your space and your house. Custom work fits the exact dimensions, matches the proportions of the room, and integrates with the existing architecture in a way an off-the-shelf unit usually cannot.
Can new woodwork match my older home?
That is a big part of the craft: planning reveals, profiles, and proportions so new work sits naturally against the original. The goal is for it to read as part of the house, not an addition to it.
